A historical-and-documentary exhibition called "The Romanov Dynasty: Moscow Pages" opened in the Russian capital on Thursday.
Based on materials from central Moscow archives, the State Public Historical Library and Grand Duchess Maria's own administrative office, the exhibition is dedicated to "the social-and-cultural aspect of relations between the Romanov Dynasty and Moscow society in the period between the late 18th century and the year 1917," said organizers.
The exhibition opens with a section featuring Empress Maria's Moscow office of the Department of Organizations. Visitors can get acquainted with documents telling the story of various Moscow-based charity organizations that were overseen by members of the Russian Imperial Court.
Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the charitable activities (children's homes, vocational schools, etc.) of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich Romanov and his wife, Grand Duchess Elizabeth.
