Jessye Norman, the legendary "intellectual singer" from the USA, is giving a concert in Moscow on October 5. Norman's performance crowns the music festival Vladimir Spivakov Presents, a ten-day event held on the initiative of Moscow Virtuosi State Chamber Orchestra, which kept the audience of the Moscow Conservatory's Grand Hall fascinated with a sparkling variety of classic melodies, chamber and symphonic music, vocal numbers and rarely performed compositions. On the last day of the festival, Norman will join Moscow Virtuosi onstage to perform five songs by Gustav Mahler to lyrics by Franz Ruckert and several fragments from Richard Wagner's Tristan and Isolde.
