Georgian president determined to destroy the 'empire of post-Soviet states'

Mikhail Saakashvili is certain that the energetic crisis in Georgia occurred only because of Russia

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has never been distinctive for his modesty. It is one of the central peculiar features of the Georgian president as a politician. It goes without saying that there is hardly a political figure in the world, who could be described as a modest person. However, a politician is supposed to have a certain of proportion, but Mr. Saakashvili can not boast of having it.

Mikhail Saakashvili decided to become the person to destroy the “empire” on the territory of the former Soviet Union. It is not clear, why Mr. Saakashvili refers to post-Soviet states as an “empire,” but it is a separate question to talk about. Nevertheless, the Georgian president has recently stated at a press conference that Georgia was doing its best on the post-Soviet space: “We are not sitting on our hands, waiting for events to develop,” said he.

the so-called revolutions in Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan had been motivated with the factor of Gerogia, Mr. Saakashvili believes. In addition, Georgia has assisted to the establishment of the Europe-oriented government in Moldova. In general, Mikhail Saakashvili is certain that Gerogia has become an important country, which became an example for all other post-Soviet states to follow. “Georgia is creating an absolutely new international reality,” Mikhail Saakashvili said.

The Georgian president mentioned Russia in his speech as well, in connection with the energetic crisis, which Georgia is currently suffering from. The government of Georgia is certain that it was Russia that caused the crisis. Saakashvili did not criticize his own government for it, of course. The Georgian president is certain that Georgia will have to experience a lot more other critical situations as long as Russia remains the major supplier of electric power to the republic. Mr. Saakashvili believes that Georgia is supposed to develop its own energetic industry and establish cooperation with Turkey and Azerbaijan.

On the other hand, it is not clear why Georgia could not do it before. Mikhail Saakashvili has been holding power in the republic for 18 months already – he had a lot of time to look into the matter. It could probably be better, if he stopped destroying empires and started dealing with the economy of his country.

The Georgian president is leaving for the republic of Kazakhstan with an official visit on March 30th. Kazakhstan is said to become the next country of the Commonwealth of Independent States to experience another national revolution. The president of the “most important republic of the former Soviet Union” did not pay any attention to that aspect, though. On the contrary, Mikhail Saakashvili stated that Kazakhstan was a stable country, in which Nursultan Nazarbayev (the Kazakh President) conducted a series of important reforms. Mr. Saakashvili seems to be a rather agreeable “revolutionary.” It is noteworthy, though, that the Georgian president intends to discuss important energetic projects and transport relations with Kazakhstan during his visit to the republic.
