”The deputies had better not carry weapons inside the building and leave them in the cloak-room”, recommended newly appointed Head of the Duma Committee on Regulations Oleg Kovalev to his colleagues-deputies at the seminar in Moscow suburbs.
According to Kovalev, “the debates are sometimes very tough, therefore the deputies should be cautious and restrain of having weapons in their pockets”.
Deputies of previously elected Russian Dumas sometimes got engaged into fighting at Duma meetings, but they used no weapons.
Kovalev also answered the deputies questions regarding the involvement of deputies in business activity. He said that "there is no way for a deputy to be on a company’s board, even on a voluntary basis”. However, Kovalev said the deputy’s handing his/her spouse the possession right for a company shares is allowed.
