Barroso said the EU was disappointed by the failure of the weekend meeting in Geneva, but added that he hopes "some additional pressure comes out now from this disappointment."
Barroso said the European Union was hoping World Trade Organization chief Pascal Lamy "comes up with some ideas" on how to salvage a deal during July.
On Saturday, Lamy said his worst fears had been realized after most of the key negotiators spent much of the three-day gathering publicly blaming each other for the failure to move forward, the AP reports.
