The Education Ministry took the measure at 68 schools in Seoul and surrounding Gyeonggi province after 1,709 students from 25 of the schools showed signs of food poisoning, such as stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting, said ministry official Kim Dong-ro.
The Korea Food and Drug Administration said it was investigating the case, but the cause was still unclear, according to the AP.
