China: 170 people have been killed during the storms since May
Since late May, continuous torrential rain has triggered floods and mudslides in coastal provinces such as Fujian and Guangdong, all the way inland to Hunan and Sichuan, the AP reports.
Fujian and Guizhou provinces have suffered the highest number of deaths, with 98 people killed, the China Daily newspaper said, citing Li Baojun, a disaster relief official from the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
