A spokeswoman said the prince "always celebrates his birthday in private" and declined to say whether he would be having a party.
On June 15, Philip will attend a service at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, one of a series of events marking the queen's 80th birthday this year, then watch the massed bands of the Royal Marines perform in his honor at London's Horse Guards Parade, officials said.
Philip was born on June 10, 1921, the youngest child and only son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Princess Alice of Battenberg.
The family was forced to flee the island of Corfu in December 1922 after Philip's father was arrested and charged with treason in the aftermath of the heavy defeat of the Greeks by Turkish forces, the AP reports.
