Two women and a man were killed when an avalanche struck a mountain in central Japan on Monday, and rescuers were trying to reach another woman buried in snow, officials said.
The incident occurred around noon in high mountains of northern Nagano prefecture, according to local police officia lMakoto Hirabayashi. Three women and a man were first reported missing, but police later said a second man was missing.
A man was flown to hospital after rescuers dug him out earlier Monday. The condition of the woman being rescued was unclear, reports the AP.
