Anastasia Myskina is once again rated as Russia's best lady tennis player. This became known after the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) published a new version of its ratings list November 3.
Myskina, who made it into the finals of the Philadelphia tennis tournament, rose from ninth to eight place with 2,492 points, thus brushing aside another Russian tennis player Yelena Dementyeva, who has 2,340 points, and who now places ninth.
It should be noted here that both Myskina and Dementyeva are going to take part in this season's concluding November 5-10 Los Angeles tournament.
Another Russian player Maria Sharapova, 16, also scored well, defeating Venezuela's Milagres Seguera in Quebec, Canada. Seguera, who lost in the first set 2-6, refused to fight on, saying her anklebone was injured. Consequently, Sharapova won her second trophy this year; by the way, she got her first prize in Tokyo.
The Quebec success enabled Sharapova to rise from 32nd place to 31st place with 1,075.25 points.
