Poland Ready to Begin Issuing Visas to Russians

The Polish diplomatic mission in Russia is prepared to institute a visa regime. All four of the Polish consulates on the territory of the Russian Federation (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk and Kaliningrad) are completely prepared to issue visas to Russian citizens, according to Polish General Consul in Moscow Tomash Klimansky.

He also said that in connection with the absence of an appropriate office for a visa department at the Polish consulate in Irkutsk, visas there will begin being issued on August 1, and until that time citizens of that region can apply for a visa at the Polish consulate in Moscow. Klimansky told journalists that the consulate was ready to issue up to 1000 visas per day because they specially increased the staff of workers and rented additional office space. They have also created a special general purpose computer system. In total, they will issue citizens of Russia approximately 350 thousand visas annually.

Beginning July 1 Poland will institute a mandatory visa regime for Russian citizens.
