A Meeting of U.S. retired general Jay Garner, who heads the provisional administration of Iraq, with the spokesmen of the main political parties will be held on Monday in Baghdad, the American radio station Sava broadcasting in Arabic language reported on Sunday. Taking part in the meeting will be the spokesmen of the two main Kurd parties - the Democratic Party of Kurdistan and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan - and also the Iraqi National Congress led by Ahmed Chalabi, the Iraqi National Accord movement, and others.
It is the second meeting of Iraqi political parties after the fall of the Saddam regime. The first one was held on April 15 in the El Nasiria, a city 375 km south of Baghdad. At that meeting an agreement was reached in principle on establishing a federative state in Iraq, forming a democratic government and liquidating the Baath party.
It is supposed that 150 delegates will take part in the second meeting, twice as many as in the previous one.
