World Russian Forum to Open in Washington

The World Russian Forum devoted to the theme Russia - USA: On the Way to Political, Economic and Military Cooperation is opening in Washington on Monday. As chairman of American Univesity in Moscow and of media group Continent USA which are the organisers of this event Eduard Lozansky said, about 250 politicians, businessmen and scientists from two countries will take part in it.

According to him, this forum has long become traditional, has been held since 1981, and its programme includes both discussion of questions of economics and politics and meetings of scientists, educators and cultural figures, as well as concerts of Russian classical music and arts exhibitions.

The forum which will be opened by Ambassador of Russia to the USA Yuri Ushakov will last two days and will be held at the U.S. Congress. It is planned that representatives of the Senate and of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress will participate in the work of the forum.

Economic questions, in particular of investment in Russia, will be discussed on the first day.

The questions of the two countries' political and military interaction, specifically in the struggle against terrorism, will be discussed on the second day.
