Vladimir Rushailo, Secretary of Russia's Security Council, opened a two-day extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Security Council Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty member-states in Dushanbe on Monday. The meeting is attended by Security Council secretaries of six Collective Security Treaty member-states and observers from five other CIS countries, as well as by General of Russia's FSB Boris Mylnikov, head of the CIS anti-terrorist centre that was set up in the current year. Vladimir Rushailo stressed that the retribution action carried out by the United States in Afghanistan "evidences the importance and topicality of the current meeting." He recalled the principles of cooperation and mutual action between the CIS countries in combating terrorism and stressed that these countries have long become aware of the danger of terrorism, as is evidenced by the anti-terrorist centre set up by the Commonwealth. The meeting will be held behind closed doors. This is the first forum of the kind which is held in a zone directly adjacent to the theatre of military operations in Afghanistan.
