All 104 passengers and 6 crew aboard a Scandinavian airlines SAS MD-80 airliner were killed as it crashed at Milan's Linate airport, according to unofficial data. Also killed were four people aboard a Cessna sports airplane that interfered with the passenger jet's take-off manoeuvre. Because of that the MD-80 caught a luggage building with its wing and then collapsed on it. A heavy fire broke out immediately after. Investigations are now being made into the number of casualties among airport personnel who were inside the building.
