Local Clashes Reported On Afghan Fronts

Over the past twenty-four hours, the military and political developments in Afghanistan have not changed substantially, Ibrahim Hekmat, the ambassador of the Islamic State of Afghanistan in Tajikistan, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday. According to him, only local skirmishes are reported on the fronts. Tajik law-enforcers confirmed to RIA Novosti that the Northern Alliance had worked out a special operation to seize Kabul the essence of which is to surround the Afghan capital and force the Taliban to surrender rather than storming the city. The success of this operation will mainly depend on the results of US missile strikes on Taliban strategic facilities, the sources added.
