Foreign Minister of Norway Jan Petersen stressed at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov the continuity of the policy course by his country's new Cabinet of Ministers country for priority development of relations with Russia. The meeting of the two countries' foreign ministries took place late at night in Oslo where Igor Ivanov made a short stopover on his way to Washington. During their conversation the sides discussed urgent international problems, including Middle-East settlement and issues of bilateral cooperation. The ministers expressed "a mutual striving to use more actively the available possibilities in various spheres of bilateral collaboration." Igor Ivanov and Jan Petersen paid special attention to the problems of counteraction to international terrorism under the auspices of the United Nations, pointing to the necessity of stepping up effrts by the international community on this track.
