The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will extend a credit of 100 million euro to Uzbekistan. As a RIA Novosti correspondent was told on Tuesday at the EBRD representation in Tashkent, the corresponding agreement was signed during the visit by the bank's president Jacques Lemierre to the republic. The given financial resources will be used for accomplishing concrete tasks of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan. The EBRD will, in particular, participate in financing the programme of reform of the republic's railway transport and modernisation of the fleet of cargo diesel locomotives and repair shops. It is planned to use 22 million euro for expanding the trade sector. The EBRD is ready to give international and local banks guarantees in carrying out projects aimed at developing trade in the region. Furthermore, the EBRD has granted a credit to Uzbekistan for modernising the heat supply system of the city of Andizhan.
