The chambers of commerce and industry of Russia and Qatar on Tuesday signed a cooperation agreement, it was said at the press service of the Russian chamber. The document covers a wide range of joint activities of the chambers, including assistance to businessmen of the two countries in establishing foreign economic ties, conducting deals, and exchanging information. On the Russian side the agreement was signed by Yevgeny Primakov, president of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and on Qatar's side by Sheikh Nawaf bin-Nasser bin Khalid Al-Thani. In the course of negotiations held in the chamber Primakov and Sheikh Nawaf exchanged views on prospects for trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. Primakov emphasised the need for a considerable expansion of the range of products that today make up trade turnover between Russia and Qatar. The heads of the chambers of Russia and Qatar also emphasised that their activities are directed above all at "promoting the development of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship of both countries and ensuring through chamber structures rapid and effective contacts between businessmen". The head of Qatar's chamber is in Moscow as part of an official visit to Russia by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin-Khalifa Al-Thani.
