Iraqi government suggests another Russian oil company develop Western Qurna-2 deposit

The Iraqi government officials have suggested that Russia choose another oil company to develop the Western Qurna-2 deposit. The INA Agency published a statement by the Iraqi oil ministry that reads that Iraq provided the Western Qurna-2 deposit especially for the Russian Federation as the relations between the two countries have a long history that benefit the Russian and the Iraqi people.

When the Lukoil company failed to meet its obligations under the contract, the government requested Russia to choose a company or companies that will be able to meet the obligations, the statement reads.
