This year has been the most interesting and active ever in terms of Polish-Russian relations. This announcement was made by Russian Ambassador to Poland Nikolai Afanasievsky to journalists in Warsaw yesterday. According to Polish news agency RAR, the meeting was essentially an evaluation of 2002 in terms of policy on Russia.
'Relations between Poland and Russia are now better than they have ever been,' said the ambassador. 'Before we simply had a declared fraternity whereas today our relations are based on good will.' Mr Afanasievsky also congratulated Poland on the end of negotiations for its entry into the EU. The ambassador promised to meet with Russian journalists working in Poland at a later date.
