Secretaries of Security Councils of CST member states meet for a session

Struggle against terrorism is the highlight of the fifth session of the Committee of Security Council Secretaries from member states of the Collective Security Treaty, or the CST, reported Vladimir Rushailo, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council. The session, which opened in Bishkek, is attended by secretaries and members of security councils of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan /as members of the CST/ and security council officials from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine /as observers/.

According to Rushailo, the agenda, which contains a wide scope of items dealing with regional and international security, was drawn up on the presidents' request. "The recent wave of terrorist acts worldwide, including the tragic events in Moscow, shows that no country is guaranteed against international terrorist attacks," said Rushailo. This subject is now being actively discussed in various meetings.

Rushailo also said participants in the session would discuss methods to combat organized transnational crime, the strengthening and expanding of the military component of the CST, the situation around Iraq, and other issues dealing with national security of the member states of the CST.
