In his speech on the Day of the Great Victory on Thursday President Saddam Hussein of Iraq called upon the Iraqi people and the Arabs "to face the dangers and aggression that threaten them." That holiday is marked in Iraq in commemoration of the end of the Iranian-Iraqi war on that day in 1988.
President Hussein warned that "the forces of evil will dig their own grave, if they encroach upon Iraq or any other Arab and Muslim country." At the same time, said the Iraqi leader, those who want peace, must "respect the security and rights" of others and advance along the road of "equitable dialogue and necessary guarantees", backed by international law and documents.
