Russian frontier guards have confirmed that they liquidated 24 Chechen terrorists who broke into Chechnya from the territory of Georgia about two weeks ago. The press-service of the North-Caucasian regional department of the Federal Frontier Service of Russia reports that the corpse of another militant was discovered by the Itum-Kale frontier unit search and reconnaissance group on Wednesday, August 7.
A sniper's rifle, but no documents were found on the killed militant.
The Itum-Kale frontier unit which guards the Chechen section of the Russian-Georgian border, is in the place where the recent clash took place that routed Khasan's gang of terrorists. During the fighting three bandits were taken prisoner; part of the gang managed to go back to Georgia, where international terrorists have their bases.
In the same area and in adjacent sections of the Russian-Georgian border all kinds of reconnaissance work, including from air reconnaissance, is conducted and ambushes are laid in places where bandit groups may possibly be moving, particularly at night.
