Iran wants compensations from USA unable to return $2bn of frozen assets

The Iranian parliament has decided to oblige the government of the country to seek compensations for anti-Iranian actions from the United States.

According to IRIB TV channel, the Parliament of Iran voted to oblige the Iranian government sue the US for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage that Iran suffered as a result of subversive activities of the United States.

These include the coup from 1953, when US and UK intelligence services worked to overthrew the government of Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh over this efforts to nationalize the oil and gas sector.

The list of actions against Iran also includes a revolution to overthrow the government of President Abolhasana Banisadr in 1980 and the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini. Iranian lawmakers also seek compensation for the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988) and for a number of other cases, in which, according to Iranian MPs, the United States was involved.

According to RIA Novosti, the decision of the Iranian lawmakers came after the US Supreme Court refusing to return $2 billion in frozen Iranian assets to the Central Bank of Iran. The judgment states that the amount should go to American families, whose relatives fell victims to bombings in Beirut in 1983 and in other terrorist attacks.
