Thousands of residents of Donetsk took to the streets to protest against the war, calling the Ukrainian government to stop the punitive operation.
At least 10,000 people came to the meeting in the center of Donetsk, the press service of the People's Republic of Donetsk told ITAR-TASS.
The people began to gather at the Eternal Flame at 10:00 (11:00 MSK) and then walked along Leninsky Prospekt towards Lenin Square. Miners of Donetsk coal companies take part in the action as well. The people chant "No more war!"
The footage of live broadcast from the event shows that Lenin Square in the city of Donetsk is packed with people. Most of them hold no flags or banners.
