The soccer club that was organizing Beyonce’s concert in Istanbul said that the performance was cancelled in respect for 12 soldiers killed in a Kurdish rebel attack
Beyonce was to give a concert in Istanbul on Wednesday, as part of her world tour. The Turkey leg of her show was being organized by soccer club Fenerbahce to mark its 100th anniversary.
"We share our nation's grief," the Fenerbahce Web site said. "We are canceling our 100th anniversary concert."
"It was not possible for (the concert) to be held in such an atmosphere," the Web site quoted Ali Koc, the club's vice president as saying.
The club said all tickets would be reimbursed.
The soldiers were killed Sunday in an ambush by separatist Kurdish rebels.
