"21st Century Basses" 5th International Festival on the Volga

The 5th international festival "Basses of the 21st Century" opens in Samara, a large city in the Volga region.

Laureates of international contests from Russia, Estonia, Latvia, South Korea and Poland will participate in the opera festival, held under the aegis of the International Union of Musicians, said the press service of the Samara Philharmonic Society.

The festival's programme includes chamber concerts, soirees of old Russian romances and folk songs and opera performances.

The festival will close on February 16th.

The international festival "Basses of the 21st century" was established in 1998 on the initiative of pianist Dmitry Sibirtsev. The best representatives of the Russian opera school and opera singers from Poland, South Korea, Ukraine, Latvia, Georgia and Azerbaijan participated in the festivals.
