The police refused to open a criminal investigation into the attack on members of American punk band Bloodhound Gang at the airport of Anapa, in Russia's south, news agencies reported on Monday, citing a source in law enforcement bodies of the Kuban region of the country.
The incident occurred after an outrageous act committed by bass guitarist of the band "Evil" Jared Hasselhoff, who abused the Russian tricolor at a concert in Odessa. After the scandal, the team was prohibited to perform at KUBANA music festival on the coast of the Black Sea. Bloodhound Gang was supposed to be the headliner of the festival.
The Russian authorities ordered the musicians to leave the territory of the Russian Federation. On August 3rd, when the musicians were waiting for their flight at Anapa Airport, they were reportedly attacked by unknown individuals. The attackers were supposedly Cossacks. The police intervened in the brawl between the attackers and musicians, but no one was arrested.
According to the source, as a result of preliminary inquiries conducted into the actions of those involved in the incident at the airport, no criminal acts have been established.
The police refused to open a criminal case. No statements have been received from the musicians.
