Sarah Prior holds a partial set of dentures used by the late British prime minister Winston Churchill after they sold at auction in Aylesdham, England, Thursday for US$23,723.
The upper dentures, one of several sets specially made for the wartime prime minister, were crucial for maintaining his distinctively slurred speaking style, famous from Second World War-era radio broadcasts, Winnipeg Free Press reports.
A specialist at one of Britain’s leading medical museums called them "the teeth that saved the world," and a private British investor who bought a set of Winston Churchill’s wartime dentures at auction on Thursday appeared to agree, New York Times says.
