The Fifth International Festival of Detective Films and Television Programmes - Law and Society - will take place in the Russian capital from April 21st to 25th.
The general producer of the festival, Yury Mityushin, told reporters that twenty countries would present their works at this festival. According to him, the main aim of the festival is to help inspire respect for law and its representatives in society and to support the makers of films and television programmes dealing with this theme.
Writer Arkady Vainer, who is a permanent chairman of the festival jury, underscored that the Law and Society festival is "the only one of this kind." This festival, said Arkady Vainer, "explains to people in the language of films their rights and reminds them of their duties." According to the writer, sometimes the authors of detective films "in pursuit for ratings show things which in no case should be revealed. I mean the methods of committing crimes and concealing them," specified Vainer. He assured the reporters that this theme would of course be discussed in the context of the upcoming festival.
At this festival films and television programmes about the fight against terrorism, the activity of rescue, customs and tax services will be screened. Others are devoted to military service and to combating drug trafficking.
In the context of the festival excursions will be organised to the Kremlin and to the Sofrino special task force of the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation.
