Vladimir Fedotov, acting head coach of Spartak Moscow said at a press conference following the first leg of the UEFA Cup second round that he was satisfied with the way his team played against Dinamo Bucharest and disappointed with the way the latter played. Spartak Moscow beat Dinamo Bucharest 4-0.
"Our team played the way it must play. Why was it in a different way in the Russian Championship? Perhaps, because Spartak was in the middle of the tournament table and that is why could neither get higher nor lower. That was why many players regarded a successful performance in the UEFA Cup as their main goal," Mr. Fedotov said.
The Spartak Moscow head coach expressed his opinion of the way Dinamo Bucharest played. "When I was in Bucharest the impression I got from their playing was completely different. It was a team that had a strong desire to fight and win," Mr Fedotov stressed. "But in this match we saw nothing of it. Perhaps, Spartak did not allow the rival team to demonstrate its best qualities," he added.
