Irkutsk Region Timber plant purchased over USD 11 million in Finnish equipment in 2003

Bratsk Timber Industry Complex (BTIC) purchased more than USD 11.3 million in equipment in Finland in 2003, said Finnish Ambassador Rene Newberg in his meeting with BTIC General Director Sergei Khvostikov on October 3, according to Ilim Pulp Enterprise, which owns the complex.

Newberg looked over the plywood and cellulose production centers at the complex, which is located in Irkutsk Region, and also became acquainted with the complex's equipment, which was supplied by Finnish company Metso. Newberg said that 'the main goal of his visit was to search for new possibilities for cooperation between Finnish and Russian companies. I am happy to say that the timber industries in our countries are actively developing business partnerships.'

Newberg also traveled to Ust-Ilimsk, where his visit continued at the Ust-Ilimsk Timber Industry Complex, which is also owned by Ilim Pulp Enterprise.

BTIC specializes in the production of cellulose, cardboard, processed wood and auxiliary chemical products. It produces over 1 million tonnes of boiled cellulose per year. In the first six months of 2003, BTIC increased its overall production by 8.3% to USD 132 million compared to the same period in 2002.
