The question about the building of an oil pipeline from Eastern Siberia to the city of Nakhodka (Russian Far East) or to the Chinese city of Daqing will be considered and resolved by the Russian government possibly in the near future. President of the Transneft company Semyon Vainshtok told reporters about it on Tuesday.
The Transneft company, he said, has discussed all the three variants: Angarsk - Daqing, Angarsk - Nakhodka, and Angarsk - Nakhodka with a branch to Daqing. The Transneft president believes that the priority direction of the pipeline is to Nakhodka.
"Economically, the building of the pipeline to Nakhodka will not be repaid," underscored Vainshtok. However, as a "geopolitical project," it has the right to exist, believes the president of the company.
Semyon Vainshtok thinks it quite possible that the questions of the construction of the pipeline will be discussed at the meeting between the President of the Russian Federation and the Prime Minister of People's Republic of China.
The Transneft company president also said that on Wednesday he would meet with the chairman of the Chinese State Planning Committee.
