SCO's leaders to examine normative documents in Moscow

The leaders of countries, members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization /SCO/, will examine documents stipulating the work of this organization's governing bodies on May 28-29th.

This was disclosed in a RIA-NOVOSTI interview today by Alexander Yakovenko, who serves as the Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman.

Moreover, the concerned parties will examine issues pertaining to the compilation of the organization's budget and its implementation. This concerns some provisions pertaining to the council of heads of state, the council of heads of government, the council of foreign ministers and the council of national coordinators, Yakovenko explained.

National ministers and department chiefs will also confer; the forthcoming conference will discuss issues pertaining to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's secretariat, executive committee and the regional anti-terrorist center.

According to Yakovenko, the heads of state would be expected to endorse the candidacy of China's Ambassador to Russia Zhang Deguang for the post of the organization's first-ever executive secretary, as well as the organization's flag and emblem.

A political declaration is to be signed, after the summit winds up, Yakovenko said in conclusion.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization comprises Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
