The tragic death of the Krasnoyarsk regional governor Alexander Lebed on April 28 drove the Russian press into a stupor, and the press cannot get over it. Journalists considered all possible versions of the air crash and put the pen aside, thinking that it was all they could do.
Maybe it is true: it is too early to talk about elections, and it would not be nice to dig up discrediting material against Lebed himself. As they say in Russia: “Say only good things about a dead man, otherwise say nothing.” When Lebed was alive, he had to deal with a lot of criticism, because there were reasons to criticize the general: his tough tempter was bad not only for himself but to the people around him. A lot of things will smooth out in our minds in the future; bad things will vanish, but the good things will remain. However, years take too long, so TV-6 television channel is releasing a documentary entitled Lebed (Swan). This was reported by journalist Svetlana Sorokina to Echo of Moscow radio station.
Sorokina stated that such a title will allow one to avoid any kind of estimation: “Lebed was the remarkable man, who managed to change our perception of the word “lebed” (which means “swan” in Russian). Now, when they say “lebed,” people think of Alexander Lebed and not of the bird.”
Journalists will try to picture Alexander Lebed from various points of view in their documentary, “to create a 3D picture,” Svetlana Sorokina said. The film will feature interviews with the people who knew the Krasnoyarsk regional governor in person, footage from the crash site, and the places where Lebed grew up and worked.
We would like to believe that the producers will not create a sugary picture of Alexander Lebed but portray him as a common person, as he probably wanted to be himself.
