Vladimir Zhirinovski, the chairman of Russia’s Liberal-Democratic Party and the leader of the party’s faction in the Duma, flew to Baghdad yesterday. He is planning to meet with Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and the country’s other high-ranking officials. The parliamentary mission of the LDPR is carrying medicines and other utensils for the Iraqi people. Mr. Zhirinovski said he had taken the decision to visit Iraq and express his support to the people of this country after bomb strikes conducted by the US and British air forces.
