The Moscow city court has finished considering a case of Sergei Shatrov, former petty policeman, accused of killing a 3-yearold baby. The court proceedings have lasted as little as a week and a half. A 19-yearold Mr. Shatrov has been found guilty of the murder. According to the proceedings, the murder is characterized as an “everyday life drama.” The murdered baby’s father and the accused are close relatives. The court’s version is that Mr. Shatrov decided to kill his uncle because he owed him Rbs5,000 which he was unable to repay, NTV television channel reports. Mr. Shatov stabbed his uncle several time after which he drowned his cousin as an unwanted witness, the indictment says. But the uncle is reported to have miraculously survived and named the murderer. Mr. Shatrov has been sentenced to 17 years in prison.
