Russia is seeing a substantial growth of high-tech-related crimes. For the past year, 1,375 crimes are registered to have been committed in the field - a 1.6-time rise compared to the previous year, officials at the Interior Ministry have told Interfax news agency. Out of the total registered, 584 crimes represent “an unauthorized access to computerized data,” according to the ministry. Also, 238 crimes represent “inflicting damage using computers,” 172, “developing and use of pernicious computer programmes,” 101, “illegal production or market-aimed acquisition of technical means for illegal obtaining of computerized data,” 210, “fraud using computer and telecom webs,” 44, “violation of computer and computer web maintenance rules.”
