USA: CLINTON FIRES PARTING SHOT AS BUSH PREPARES TO ENTER THE WHITE HOUSE

At a Democratic Rally in Chicago, departing President Bill Clinton spoke out about the recent US elections: “They (the Republicans) thought the election was all over. By the time it was over, our candidate had won the popular vote and the only way they could win the election was to stop the voting in Florida”. It is reported that for the first time in history, the inauguration of the new President of the USA, George “W” Bush, is to be interrupted by activists claiming the Florida vote was illegal. The campaign against Bush’s team has also got underway, with the Florida Secretary of State, a woman of the surname Harris, being called into question due to her role in the election, a process which has just begun and about which we have certainly not heard the last. It is reported even that this lady does not even understand the constitutional role of a person in her position. Now the choice of Attorney General, John Ashcroft, has hit resistance as pressure groups claim that this former Missouri Senator is a racist and a reactionary. It will be remembered that George W. Bush won the US elections after repeated appeals to the courts halted vote counting in Florida just before Gore was declared the winner…even though he had half a million more votes than Bush.
