Alvaro Silva Calderon, the Minister of Energy and Mines of Venezuela called on OPEC /Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries/ member-states to develop relations with major oil-producing countries, first of all, with Russia and Mexico, in coordinating with oil policy and strategy. On Thursday the secretary of the world petroleum cartel published Silva's statement made in Caracas. According to the Venezuelan minister, concrete and active cooperation of OPEC with independent producers of crude oil will ensure the stability of world crude oil markets. The OPEC countries should double their efforts to allow other countries to share responsibility with them and to take measures needed to prevent a collapse of crude oil prices, Silva said.
