The first plenary session of the Euro-Asian Economic Community's (EurAsEC) inter-parliamentary assembly, held this Friday in St.Petersburg, tackled 20 questions, including re-organisation of the EurAsEC inter-parliamentary committee, a programme to form an EurAsEC inter-parliamentary assembly and draft acts to regulate its work. The EurAsEC inter-parliamentary assembly has assumed the fucntions of the inter-parliamentary committee of Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Russia and Tajikistan under the presidency of the chairman of the inter-parliamentary committee, Alexander Voitovich. The bureaus and standing commissions of the inter-parliamentary committee have been transformed into EurAsEC bureaus and standing commissions. The acting EurAsEC inter-parliamentary assembly president, Alexander Voitovich, told reporters that "we should create a single economic environment and it is to survive only if uniformed legislative acts are available". The EurAsEC inter-parliamentary assembly should lead this unification and determine its priorities, according to Voitovich.
