The Brazilian Christmas is celebrated on 24th December, at midnight. The restaurant “Betinho”, named after the sociologist Herbert de Souza, who created the campaign “Christmas without Hunger” in Brazil, served a delicious Christmas dinner for the homeless of Rio from 6 p.m. until dawn.
The menu was chicken with grape sauce, grilled rump steak with olives, a salad of lettuce, tomato, carrot and raisins, breadcrumbs with fruits and a pannetone for dessert, accompanied by tea, coffee and grape juice, but not wine.
