47 schoolchildren from Chechnya left for Moscow on Tuesday to attend a December 28 New Year celebration in the Kremlin Palace of Congresses, the place that houses the country's capital fir tree, reported a source in the Chechen government office. The children in question are mostly orphans whose parents were killed during the two Chechen campaigns. The trip was organised by the office of Viktor Kazantsev, the Russian president's plenipotentiary to the Southern Federal District.
