At the Eurasian Economic Community's economic forum today Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov called on EurAsEC countries to create a Eurasian gas alliance, which might later include other members of the CIS. According to the government's PR department, the Prime Minister said 'in the future it is necessary to achieve a single fuel balance within the CIS and a single system for transporting energy through our countries.'
Kasyanov also believes it is important to introduce a batch of measures to reduce transport costs for transferring energy resources and to increase the efficiency of transport corridors passing through EurAsEC countries. According to the Prime Minister, it is in Russia's interests to coordinate the actions of the fuel and energy complex with other EurAsEC countries.
