The Russian Media Ministry has applied to the Economy Ministry with a demand to ban the selling of unlicensed audio and video products. A corresponding letter has been sent today by Deputy Media Minister Mikhail Seslavisnky to Economy Minister German Gref, the Media Ministry told RBC.
According to current legislation, the Media Ministry issues licenses to produce audio and video products. A corresponding law stipulates that a producer must mark its products with its name and a number of its license. According to checks of the Media Ministry that were carried out in 2002, this provision was not fulfilled in the majority of cases.
