Freight Traffic From Asia to Finland and Other Countries of Western Europe has Grown at the Trans-Siberian Railway

At the Trans-Siberian Railway (Transsib), the transit container fright traffic is growing most dynamically from Asia to Finland and other countries of Western Europe, the press service of the Far Eastern Railway reported Wednesday.

In 2002, the transit freight traffic in containers at the Trans-Siberian Railway from the Eastern Port, the biggest one in the Maritime Territory, to Finland went up by twelve percent, in 2003 - by another six percent.

According to experts' estimates, in 2003 the container traffic at the Trans-Siberian Railway, the shortest transit way from Asia to Europe, will increase by fifteen percent.

The Trans-Siberian Railway is becoming attractive, because this way is three times shorter than via the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Suez Canal. In the past few years the level of the container service has started to meet all the requirements of the international standards.
