Russian Nuclear Energy Minister Alexander Rumyantsev arrived on a three-day visit in Helsinki on Monday, February 3. As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, the visit will include talks with Finnish Minister of Trade Sinikka Monkare and Industry and Foreign Trade Minister Jari Vilen as well as Director of the Centre for Radiation Safety Jukka Laaksonen. The main areas of discussion will be the role of nuclear energy in Finland's energy supply, a project to construct a fifth nuclear power-generating unit, and the possible participation of Russian contractors in this project. They will also discuss ways of disposing of spent fuel.
Mr Rumyantsev will also hold talks with the management of the Finnish energy concern Fortum and give a speech to the Finnish nuclear society on the state and perspectives of Russian nuclear energy industry.
