Speaking at the V Moscow conference on international security, the Russian Minister of Defence Sergey Shoygu claimed that main task of Russia and its allies is to stop terrorists' activity in the CIS.
According to Sergey Shoygu, one cannot let terrorism metastases grow in the CIS countries.
Beside that, Shoygu specified that in this context the Ministry of Defence pays a special attention to not quite a simple situation in the Central Asian region, which is being influenced by a terror threat from Afghanistan.
Head of the Defence Ministry noted that a harsh and uncompromising war is being waged against Russia. "One can hear claims about a threat coming from Moscow to the European states. As for grounds, an absurd thesis that Russia allegedly comes close to the NATO doorstep is replicated. All in all, everything is turned upside down," Sergey Shoygu stated.
Beside that, he explained that the Russian military bases in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are a guarantor of regional stability in the region. "Along with our allies we strengthen their combat readiness, which in its turn strengthens security of Dushanbe and Bishkek," the Russian Defence Minister claimed.
Shoygu added that regarding foreign policy, the Russian efforts are aimed at political settlement of the conflict in Syria and providing of humanitarian aid to people in the liberated from terrorists territories.
