Witnesses of Boris Nemtsov's assassination to solve his murder

Officials with the Russian Interior Ministry said that several individuals witnessed  the murder of prominent politician Boris Nemtsov, who served as First Deputy Prime Minister during the 1990s.  

"There are witnesses, but it is in the interests of the investigation not to disclose any details at the moment," Interior Ministry spokeswoman Elena Alexeeva told Russia 24. 

The former head of the Federal Security Service, State Duma deputy Nikolai Kovalyov, believes that chances to disclose the murder of opposition leader Boris Nemtsov are high." 

"This is a rare case when a witness to the murder was next to the victim. Such things usually do not happen in contract killings," Kovalev told Interfax. 

When asked about chances to disclose the murder, the FSB former head said: "In general, assassinations are very hard to disclose in any country of the world, and most of them still remain unsolved."

However, he added, "it may seem strange and paradoxical, but Russia has the highest percentage in solving such killings, if one looks at global statistics," Pravda.Ru says. 

Boris Nemtsov, was shot dead on Saturday night in the center of Moscow on the Bolshoy Moskvoretsky Bridge (the bridge across the Moskva River). Unidentified individuals shot at the opposition activist at least seven or eight times from a vehicle, while passing him by. Nemtsov's colleagues believe that the murder was politically motivated.

Boris Nemtsov will be buried at the Troekurov Cemetery on Tuesday.
